EDIT: Finally, just a comment, PhoneyDeveloper pointed out that you had a parallel thread on the Apple Discussion forums. JMHO, but that's poor netiquette and is a waste of both your time and ours. At least link the two conversations, so folks don't end up repeating what someone else said on the other forum. Even just to say "someone over at the Apple Discussion Fourms (link) suggested ..."

Geeze time flies!!! HB OS X!
Started with a used PowerBook 5300cs running 7.6.1, and quickly (about 2 years) walked it up through all the versions to 9.1 as I could afford to upgrade the ram. Got my first experience of OS X on a PowerBook G3 Pismo 500mhz, with 10.0.4. I'd have to say 10.2.8 really marked OS X becoming a mature system, it was by far more stable than all versions of X prior to it. Used every release since, and they just get better, now with Snow Leopard on the main machine, a MacBook Pro 13"
Still rocking 9.1 on a PowerBook 2400c hooked up to a Bose SoundDock and using iTunes 2 to stream internet radio (running as I type this).

All this talk is great. ... ... ... In case you haven't noticed, it's already easy to get DVD-quality movies and TV shows online for free. Yes, yes, I know, that's illegal, and we're all going to get sued by the MPAA and the RIAA and NCAA and AARP. Just let me know when I should actually start worrying about it.
The moment you've got a life to lose if you're sued and you have your hds full of pirated movies, music and stuff would be a good point to start being worried. About that life of yours if you're having a job and a family and things like that. Could get nasty if you're having a criminal record and things like that, you know.

That's why I'm an architecture major, to hopefully convince people like you waste is not the best option, even if you can afford it. The best spaces are often the most well designed small spaces. Clearly, you have never experienced this.

I'm not sure where you got those criteria... but those aren't the criteria for which story make the first page.
Readers aren't asked to blindly believe page 1 rumors... Whether Page 1 or Page 2, rumors are presented in their context.... with historical context of the sites involved. Engadget generally has pretty low standards regarding rumors - in that they will post whatever they want on their site if they find it remotely interesting -- that being said, I've not seen them post Apple Rumor items using their own sources with any degree of certainty before. As a result, they get this front page spot. If "joerumorblogIveneverheardof.com" posts a rumor from "reliable" sources, it won't even get a mention on Page 2.

Show me another phone that can drop calls from just the position of one finger. Nokia have their problems at the moment, but their reception has always been rock solid.
As for people being surprised at Apple's childishness, have you forgotten about the douchetastic "I'm a Mac campaign".
I can't, but my iPhone 4 hasn't dropped any of my calls, my 3G use to drop calls 2 or 3 calls a month.

Again for the people wanting very much to redefine computing, "shifting the way people use" is not redefining computing. At least qualify it properly as a shift in usability, not in computing. You are talking about the lower levels when you use the word computing.
Why are some of you uninitiated insisting on using "computing" and claiming it is redefined ? Is it because a shift in usability doesn't sound as great accomplishment and you want to make what Apple did much bigger than it really is ? Stay objective please, don't involve emotions you have for a corporation in this discussion.
I'm not sure what the point is of constantly fighting to understate what Apple has achieved. Compare the smartphone landscape pre- June 2007 to now. Compare the mobile landscape overall pre-January 2010 to now. Big, big differences. All of it ushered in by Apple. If you want to get specific, let's start with the App Store. It all started with iTunes. Then Apple pushed the entire industry forward again in 2008.
All these big industry milestones in key areas - mobile, software distribution, interface design - all the credit goes to Apple. Once Apple gets into a market it changes. Then everyone sees their success and follows suit.
This might seem unfair or uncharitable to other tech outfits, but it's true. It's also part of the reason you're making these voracious attempts to balance out the pro-Apple situation. The very reason you're posting what you're posting is because Apple has turned the entire game on its head and everyone else is made to look like clueless pretenders. While I agree with you overall, I think there have been plenty of features that NeXT-Apple has teased, but not ultimately delivered on. "Home on the iPod" is one and "resolution independence" is another, I'm sure there are more but these are two that might actually have mattered to me.

Apple would be stupid to make a branded portable projector. That market is already saturated by Epson, Eiki, InFocus, NEC, Sony, Panasonic, need I go on...
I think the wireless video streaming device makes more sense. Make the wireless part interchangeable for future upgrades. 720p H.264 could easily stream over 10mbit connections. Better include a HDMI connector, component video out, s-video out and optical/analog audio. If not, it is dead in the water.

Maybe they should just work with Rockbox and make a third party firmware that opens up the iPod to a new open DRM and forget Fairplay compatibility...

Besides... the more I think about it, the more I don't see why iTunes wouldn't play the compatible Fairplay songs. The iPhone looks pretty cool, but it's a logical progression - certainly not a revolution. If it was so revolutionary there wouldn't have been so many predictions about it. Instead, a lot of the predictions were actually aiming too high.
And it really is this fan-boy attitude of 'Steve is our hero, everything he does is wonderful' that keeps apple products so expensive. If you were all a little more critical they'd have to work a little harder to earn your money.
600 bucks for a phone (with contract) with only 8gigs of ram for my music? It's not 3G. It's got WiFi but doesn't do VOIP? I think I'll pass on this one.
