Keep talking Veil, 2010 was just the 'coming attractions.'Outdated graphs aside, you really think so? With the tri-cornered hat brigade being vastly outnumbered at rallies? With public opinion siding with the unions? With people watching good workers threatened with jail, and thinking to themselves, "If it can happen to them, it can happen to us?"

And the fact that she married 5P. ;)You have to wonder, if she was in a union and they declared a strike, who would he side with? A thread that runs through his posts seems to be that people and practicality take a back seat to strict adherence to rigid dogma. Would he let his wife get dragged off to jail, just so he could remain righteous in his beliefs?

    so true.
This forum is mostly visited by whiners.
So many people wanted the MPB at a photography event. what a joke. they did not get it and now all the crying.
Basically you have just to ignore these folks if you want to have a nice experience at Macrumors.

Ignore me if you wish, but I'm pretty sad about not getting the machine promised by the rumour mill. I'm happy for y'all with your updated photo software, but wouldn't you have liked it to be true that we'd get a nice new C2D MBP to use it on?

    Except Verizon does that too!!!!

We just switched from Verizon to AT&T, I've had more dropped calls in the last two weeks than in six years with Verizon ( probably 1% of my AT&T calls get dropped, so not that bad )...Never had a smartphone with Verizon though, and now on AT&T I use a Nokia E71x ( great phone ), but maybe that's why calls are dropping?

People can be so disgusting. Seriously, how would it have hurt those girls in her using a stall? It wouldn't have. Just like it wouldn't hurt a guy if she went into the Men's bathroom to use a stall.

The poor girl was a waif too. What could she have done to those girls?

Whilst the company shouldn't say 'if you see any fights, jump in the middle of them', those employees should know full well that it isn't ok to watch and laugh as someone is getting the tish kicked out of them! Who was the man in the Blue shirt at the start of the video? he tried to break it up at first but seemed to then let it carry on.

First off, Apple does not have the time or ways to check for security risks. They don't have the source code, and we've already seen apps with banned talents appear. Moreover, security research shows that many iOS apps can access personal information (and many do send that off to remote servers without Apple making a peep).

As for approvals, apps that "duplicate" Apple functionality are banned. That alone means a lot of cool stuff is not available from their store.

You also cannot write a homebrew app for your friends and give it to them to use, unless you want to pay $100 a year to keep a dev license going. That's another reason why there's so much crud in the app store.

Unfortunately, we've also seen apps approved that should never have been, such as the baby shaker one.

Don't confuse approval control with a guarantee of either security or quality.

And once an app that gets by with security risk is found, it is removed. Compare this to getting an app off of site X. Does site X remove the app because it was found to be a security risk? And should an appear turn out to be stealing information, which is easier to trace to the source, one that went through the app store registration process with apple or on on site X residing somewhere in Russia?

You're narrowly defining the methods of security that Apple's app store can provide.

That's a very good explanation Knight, I'm starting to understand some things better. Let me go do some stuff (eat, banks, etc) and I'll post an updated code with the startTimer method you mention and continue with that 1 timer. I'll be back soon.

    Thank you once again

The thing I truely love about Apple, is they look after their customers with regular updates to their software with useful features added. I can't think of another company that will add so many new features without charging users for it.

And with some luck it might be faster as well, something that Apple are great at delivering as well, better and faster.

Redesigned MBP's, MB's and introduction of 12"PB replacement. IMHO last years MW was a bust unless you wanted an iphone. Stuck with Verizon so it did nothing for me....

Agreed. I feel like Wordpad, with the ability to open .doc and .docx files, would suffice.

And have Graphpad, a basic spreadsheet app, with the ability to open .xls and .xlsx for excel. :)

For my work I need word and office, so replacements are not feasible. We use custom plug-ins that obviously will only work in an office app and nothing else.

I'm a little behind the curve as I'm running MS office 2007 on my windows partition and I've had little need to upgrade to 2010. That's why I'm a little out of the loop regarding ads in office.

Sorry, but Apple released Aperture BEFORE Adobe did the same with its app...so it's easier to have a clone of Apple's app, not the opposite...

Right, a product in development since 2002 (http://photoshopnews.com/2006/01/09/the-shadowlandlightroom-development-story/) was a copy of a product released in 2005

Some people will never understand the power of Apple and the fundamental insight that makes Apple's products so powerful.

It's not a feature list. It's not a slick vaneer.

It's a deep understanding of design. How to make a product work naturally that empowers us to achieve what we want with the tool.

It's rarely more. It's rarely new pretty pictures.

Great art is knowing when to stop.

I think people should just get over it. Although doing it while he was doing the talk was a little

Well, eventually people WILL get over it, but for the moment, it's a hot topic.

Over at Gizmodo's own site, the comment list on the story has reached 674 comments, 2 of which are my own. It's just about the most comments I remember seeing on a Giz story:

    http://tinyurl.com/3eyy4c

I am once again feeling proud to be a MacRumors member - the comments HERE have been interesting, civil, and quite readable - even comments that I would disagree with. It's a madhouse over at Giz.

This my first Call of Duty game and I am loving it.
I like the campaign for being over the top and lots of fun. I like the multiplayer. Dead Ops Arcade is fantastic. And zombies is a lot of fun. This game was worth my money.
