I would be appreciated, if people returning at NJ Airports can post their experiences of Successful re-entry . That would definitely be helpful to all other people, who will have to travel, in case of Emergency.

its kinda interesting why there is no appointment available sooner. I am in florida and i heard frmo my attorney on Thursday.. and called 3 doctors Friday morning.. all three said come down right now. Finally went to one of them the same day in the afternoon.. he did some blood work.. gave me MMR and TD.. and did TB test. I want back today morning and got my all the reports.
As far as I know, we need to get only one blood work done.. doctor can test both HIV and Syph in the same one.
There are places (even though not remote) , you cant get appointments for weeks. There must be different reasons for that. I don't think any one answered the OP question:

I think you should probably consult a good local immigration attorney who should have some access to the IO or his supervisor so that the AOS is not improperly denied. I don't know how useful an infopass appointment would be. That can vary greatly from office to office.
If the AOS is denied, you can refile or you can file a motion to reconsider. There are significant filing fees for both, as well as delay.

NRE accounts--> interest earned is not taxable in India but has to be reported in your 1040 here.
NRO accuont--> earns very high interest rates (was 11%) just a few months ago. There will be TDS but you can file an income tax return and claim the amount that they deducted above what you would be taxed.
For eg:- if your total interest earned is 100,000 they would withhold upto 30% of it (may be lesser depending upon your situation). When you file your returns your total income is only 100,000 which is below the taxable limits and therefor you will be returned all that was witheld. Only those with interests >180,000 per anum will really lose money.
Some people split accounts and try to hide interest income. This is not advisable if you ever want to repatriate the interest income. Once you have payed required taxes on the interest you can repatriate any amount of interest income to the US. Many people use this as a source of regular income.

I'm assuming you are Indian like most of us on this site. remember THIS country would be in big trouble with Indians working in all kinds of institutions working in the sciences and IT. The whole country would go down the pan. I work for an IT recruitment firm, 80% of our employees that are out on assignment are Indian and i think the govenment knows that..

We got a rejection notice for my wife's 485 & 765 application. The notice said

Your original Form I-130(petition for alien relative) if you are filing concurrently ; or
Your original Form I-360 if you are filing concurrently; or
A copy of your Form I-797 if the petition has already beed filed/approved; or
Other evidence that an immigration visa petition has been filed/approved on your behalf.

My PD is Mar 2005, EB2 and my 485 is pending since aug 2007.
We have included following documentation in the package

Several people i know got RFE during H1 transfer and few got denied . At the same time many got approved.
Mines also got denied even though i a have a project and with big company.
But if you are over 180 days you can take a chance. It is better that getting less salary. You can transfer on premium and switch company after it gets approved.
On the side note: dont transfer your h1 to a company starting with cognXXXXX and ending with "solutions". their immigration department sucks and several of their transfers are having issue.

Gary, I think I did something similar. I couldn't tell if you masked it or not. In PS, I first selected all the sky with the magic wand, then expanded that selection 3 pixels, then put a 3 pixel feather on it, then inverted the selection so all the greenery was selected with a soft edge. I then put an adjustment layer bumping up the saturation. Finally, I filled the above selection with black on the adjustment layer's mask so the bump only applied to the sky. From there, it's a matter of taste for how much saturation is desired.

Is "employment by a new employer" H1B transfer? What does "concurrent employment" mean?

In a bitter irony,MIT Admission dean resigned today after admitting that she had put fake degrees in her resume.

1.W-2 for last year
2. Two latest paystubs
3. Copies of all educational degrees held.
In addition,there will be a background check from a professional agency,which will actually call -

-Checks with all educational institutes mentioned in resume
-Call up references
-Criminal Check.
Now, whom will you hire next time? A Green Card job applicant just supplies a SSN,and a simple criminal check is run against them.They can fake all the degrees and work experience they want.There is no way to verify last salary held by a citizen/GC applicant. Poor H1-B visa holder can not even fake this simple thing.

I am going to apply for a position in Oracle but do not know if it files green card or not. I am reluctant to ask this in the interview.(They may prefer somebody who does not need it) . Also I wonder if there is any wait time for them to file the green card after joining. I posted this because I think some of you might be working for Oracle and might be knowing. Anybody knows the answer , please reply here or send me a private message.

CIS could have asked for a copy of your previous Advance Parole, for example, in the I-131 RFE. Hopefully you have received the RFE by now so you know what it asks for. You should also have got the I-140 notice. If not, you should call CIS to see where they sent it in case it went to the wrong address.

Thanks a lot for reply. I just want to make sure she can go to canada, cause she has a bachelors degree from India. Forgetting the security checks, I was reading that for such ppl they say go back to home country for stamping. Mostly ppl with us degrees are fine. WOuld she be safe cause she had one h1 stamped in india few years back?
